iFixit specialists were already able to get the new iPhone 14 smartphone and conducted a traditional disassembly of the device. At the same time, it was found that the 2022 model is much easier to repair compared to its predecessors thanks to the use of an easily removable glass back panel.
In the presented video, you can see that the glass panel can be easily lifted with the help of a heating mat and a vacuum cleaner with a handle. According to iFixit, the rear glass is “simply secured with two screws and one connector.” Apple seems to have used a less strong adhesive that allows the panel to be removed without the time-consuming use of expensive tools. iFixit also points out that removing the same two screws allows access to open the display if it needs to be replaced.
The internal design of the iPhone 14 has undergone noticeable changes. If previously the access to the internal components was opened through the front panel of the display, now it is done through the back panel. Many components in a smartphone are fixed with screws and connectors. Only the battery is fixed with glue, but it can also be pulled out relatively easily.

iFixit notes that Apple has made “significant design changes” and “went to great lengths to make this phone as easy to repair as possible.” As a result, iFixit experts assigned the new Apple iPhone 14 smartphone a repairability rating of 7 out of 10. Note that the maximum score of 10 corresponds to devices that are the easiest to repair. Thus, the novelty is quite easy to repair.
