A number of new articles regarding the concepts of “mobilization”, “wartime” and the punishments related to them appeared in the criminal code of Russia.

  • “Arbitrarily leaving a military unit during the period of mobilization or martial law” – from 5 to 10 years.
  • For refusal to participate in hostilities, if it caused serious consequences – up to 10 years.
  • For the destruction of military property in wartime, the sentence is up to 5 years.

The Duma voted for the bill on September 20. According to media reports, the Federation Council may adopt a package of amendments on September 21.
