The James Webb Space Telescope captured unique images of Neptune. The new photos are the clearest pictures of the giant planet in the last 30 years.
In the image, Neptune appears as a darkened sphere with thin rings of dust and a scattering of moons.
Astronomers say the image shows the planet’s ghostly rings, which have not been visible since Voyager 2 captured them in 1989. The picture also showed a band of clouds around the well-known vortex at the south pole of the planet.
