The head of the Indonesian province of West Java, Rydwan Kamil, announced the death of 162 people as a result of a powerful earthquake in the region. This is reported by Sky News.
According to him, hundreds more people were injured and more than 13,000 people were forced to leave their homes as a result of the 5.6-magnitude earthquake.
Many citizens were injured due to the collapse of buildings, some were buried under the rubble.
Local authorities in Chianjur district said that efforts to evacuate people in some areas were hampered by landslides.
It will be recalled that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 occurred on the Indonesian island of Java. Initially, 46 dead and 700 injured were reported.
