Ubisoft will release games on Steam again. According to Engadget, the first will be Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which will be available there from December 6. Anno 1800 and the free-to-play game Roller Champions later also appear on this platform.

The video game maker will return to Steam after a four-year hiatus. During this period, they partnered with the Epic Games Store and focused on building their own Connect ecosystem.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will arrive on Steam just as Ubisoft releases the latest content update for the game. The final chapter, also out on December 6, will wrap up Eivor’s story and tie up some storylines. However, Ubisoft confirmed that it would not be adding a New Game+ mode because it “realized that the depth of the game gives us limited options to make gameplay unique and rewarding.”

Ubisoft previously stated that the abandonment of Steam was a business decision. In particular, it allowed for a six-fold increase in the number of pre-orders for The Division 2 in Ubisoft’s own store. However, it seems that the vast reach and popularity of Steam was ultimately too hard to ignore.
