This is the latest publisher to return to the service.

Ubisoft has officially announced its return to Steam. The French company is going to release three games in the Valve service that were previously unavailable in the store.

As Eurogamer reported with reference to the publisher’s comment, the first “swallow” will be Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It will appear on Steam already on December 6, when it will receive the last update. The free patch will add to the project the completion of the story of the main character Avor, but the developers are not going to implement the “New Game+” mode.

Ubisoft has also confirmed that it will release the city-building simulator Anno 1800 with all the add-ons and the free-to-play sports simulator Roller Champions on Steam in the foreseeable future. However, their release dates on the site have not yet been announced.

We will remind you that at the beginning of 2019, Ubisoft entered into a partnership with Epic Games. The company announced that Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will be released only in EGS and Uplay (the old version of Ubisoft Connect). Then the publisher promised to release several more major releases on the Epic Games service, bypassing the Valve store. Ubisoft followed this strategy for three years.

Bringing companies back to Steam

  • This spring, Bethesda Softworks abandoned its own Bethesda.net store. It previously featured Fallout 76 and RAGE 2 exclusively, but they are now available on Steam.
  • Electronic Arts has also returned to the Valve store. This happened back in the fall of 2019, but there is a nuance. Most EA projects on Steam are launched through EA Desktop.
  • Activision also tried to promote its projects through Battle.net. for example, Call of Duty hasn’t been released on the service since Black Ops 4. However, the fresh Modern Warfare II has been available in the store since its release and has already become one of the most popular games online.
