Insider RGCloudS continued the series of rumors about the future Samsung flagship. On his Twitter blog, he shared a number of interesting details about the display of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which will reportedly feature very advanced specifications.

According to the Source, the maximum brightness of the Galaxy S23 Ultra AMOLED screen will be up to 2200 cd/m², and the PWM and sensor sampling frequency will be 960 Hz and 2000 Hz, respectively. At the same time, the energy efficiency of the smartphone display, according to the insider, will improve by 45% compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra model.

XDA-Developers portal expert Dylan Raga noted that although Samsung and Apple devices use the same OLED panels, the brands’ testing methods are different. Companies rely on different APL (Average Picture Level) values when measuring backlight brightness.

This abbreviation determines which part of the image displayed on the screen is bright and which is dark. For example, an index of 25% APL means that the white rectangle occupies a quarter of the image area. And the value of 1% APL implies a small point with “concentrated” brightness – under such conditions, the iPhone 14 “squeezes out” 2300 cd/m2. More detailed comparisons of flagship smartphones will appear online only after the release of the Galaxy S23 Ultra next year.
